Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 edge Nougat update now hitting units in India

March 13, 2017

The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge started receiving the Nougat update last week. But at that time, only Europe was getting the update. Well, now, the update has started hitting units in India as well.

Aside from the Android OS version 7.0, several bug fixes as well as improvements and optimizations are also included in the update, which weighs in at around 1.3GB.

As is usually the case with OTA roll outs, it may take some time for the update to hit your device. Meanwhile, if you feel impatient, you can manually check for the update by heading to your handset’s Settings menu.

LG’s next flagship phones will likely feature FullVision displays (à la G6)

March 13, 2017

Released last week in South Korea (and coming soon to the US), the LG G6 features a display like no other. Called FullVision, this is a 5.7-inch panel with a unique 1440 x 2880 pixel resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The screen also has round corners, and there’s very little bezel around it, this making the G6 the most compact 5.7-inch phone to date.

If you like the idea behind this new display, but you’re not particularly impressed by the G6 as a whole, you may want to wait for LG’s next flagship smartphones, as these will almost certainly feature FullVision …

Samsung shifts to monthly security updates schedule for unlocked smartphones in the U.S.

March 13, 2017

It’s common knowledge that unlocked smartphones get updated much faster than carrier-branded units since there’s no need for additional approval from network operators. Unfortunately, things don’t go as planned sometimes and unlocked phones receive updates slower than expected.

That’s exactly what happens in the United States where carrier-branded Samsung smartphones seem to be getting security updates on a monthly basis, whereas unlocked units receive these important patches on a quarterly basis.

Many fans have written to Samsung in the hopes of getting …
