If there were an iOS powered Apple iMirror, it would look exactly like this (VIDEO)

November 18, 2016

Back in February, we told you about a gentleman named Max Braun who used two-way glass, some components, API’s for the Associated Press and Forecast, and created a smart mirror. With a couple hundred lines of code, the mirror responds to voice search and updates automatically. Now, another do-it-your-selfer by the name of Rafael Dymek has created his version of a smart mirror, this time making it look like iOS 10 is running the show.

While we’re not sure if cracking this mirror brings seven years of bad luck, there is plenty of functionality. The time and date are in the …

Nearly three million Android handsets are vulnerable to attacks that could secretly install malware

November 18, 2016
According to a report published today, nearly three million Android handsets are vulnerable to man-in-the middle-attacks that could turn over full control of the handsets to hackers. The affected phones are currently residing in various regions of the world with the U.S. the number one location. The attack hits at root level and sends device information and more to a server in China, and to two domain names that were hard-wired into the affected handset’s firmware.

Security firm BitSight Technologies registered the two domain names and control them. Since taking over these two domain names, …

Apple is throttling the Qualcomm modem in Verizon and Sprint iPhone 7 for parity with slower Intel modem model

November 18, 2016
One of the behind-the-scenes facts about the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus is that units on different carriers have different integrated modems. Verizon and Sprint units use the Qualcomm X12 modem, while AT&T and T-Mobile use the Intel XMM 3360 modem. Does this matter? In practice, not really, but it is your right to know that the Qualcomm modem maxes out at speeds of up to 600 megabits per second, while the Intel modem’s max speed is around 450 megabits per second. Thus, Apple has throttled down the faster Qualcomm modem in order to keep parity between different carrier models of the iPhone 7.

Android Nougat update now available for Verizon Moto Z Droid and Z Force Droid

November 18, 2016
Today, some lucky owners of the Motorola Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Force Droid received updates to Android 7.0 Nougat. Verizon (the exclusive carrier of the two phones) hasn’t announced anything about this yet, but we assume it won’t be long before it confirms the roll out, and all Moto Z Droid users will be getting the update.

As revealed by a few users on Reddit, the Android 7.0 Nougat update (software version NCL26.86-11) takes about 20 minutes to be installed on a Moto Z Droid, and includes – among other things – features like split-screen mode, quick app switching, new Data Saver, and …

BLU R1 HD receives new update that adds T-Mobile VoLTE and band 12 support

November 17, 2016

Despite the fact that recent reports claim some BLU smartphones have pre-insalled backdoor that sends data to Chinese servers, the US-based company is very popular among Android users thanks to its really cheap devices.

The BLU R1 HD is one such device, and those purchased it can confirm that it does its job as a daily driver. The smartphone made its debut in the United States several months ago, but it lacked support for certain bands.

Even though BLU clarified the issue and promised to bring support for band 12 as soon as possible, it looks like it …

HP already working on another customer-focused Windows Phone smartphone

November 17, 2016
One of the most powerful Windows Phone handsets launched this year, the HP Elite x3 isn’t really a success. After a few delays, the phone made its debut in the United States and Europe last month, but the high price, as well as some of the features that were not working as intended, kept even the most loyal Windows Phone fans from buying one.

However, it looks like HP won’t give up and plans to launch yet another Windows Phone handset next year. The company is rumored to have teamed up with Microsoft for the release of a more customer-focused Windows Phone, probably in February 2017.
