The most anticipated Apple iPhone in years is expected to be unveiled and released as soon as September. The tenth anniversary model, dubbed the Apple iPhone 8, will reportedly launch with an edge-to-edge OLED display. That would make it the first iPhone to feature an OLED panel. In addition, if the technology allows for it, the Touch ID fingerprint scanner will be embedded under the screen. The Apple A11 chipset will be driving the device, which might be equipped with a 3D sensing front-facing sensor that will allow for face recognition capabilities.

What’s new in Apple Pay? person to person payments in Messages

June 7, 2017
In iOS 11, Apple adds peer-to-peer payment, which is accessible from Messages, and yes, all your transactions are still encrypted.

Apple Pay is an incredibly useful payment service from Apple that wins across all payment services thanks to encrypted transactions. That means, everything you buy at any supported retailer doesn’t get tracked by credit card companies and doesn’t get sold to interested data tracking companies. It’s almost as private as paying with cash.

In iOS 11, Apple Pay is going to be extended to more than just retailers and restaurants. You’ll be able to pay your buddy back for covering the cab ride, or tell your sister she still owes you for the cost of the shared hotel you fronted. It’s called person to person payment and its available in Messages on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch running iOS 11.

So how does it work?

It’s kinda magical. All you have to do is send a chat in the Messages app to someone with a dollar amount in it. When you tap the dollar amount, a …

iFixit gives us a look inside the 2017 4K iMac

June 7, 2017
The folks over at iFixit have once again opened up the latest Apple product to see what’s inside. Their latest teardown focuses on the 2017 21.5 inch 4K iMac. The teardown gives us a nice look inside the iMac, including some interesting changes that Apple has made to its RAM installations on the smaller all-in-one. Where previous versions of the 21.5-inch iMac saw the RAM soldered to the logic board, this new model features (technically) removable RAM modules.

From iFixit:

And with a bit more elbow grease, we shimmy the logic board out of its slot to reveal … removable RAM? We can hardly believe our eyes.

Yep, those are SO-DIMMs. Two of them.

It should be noted that we shouldn’t call this memory “user-replaceable”. In order to get to the RAM slots, you need to remove, among other things, the iMac’s display, power supply, hard drive, and fan. Given that the iMac wasn’t exactly made to come apart, we recommend just selecting more RAM up front if you can when you purchase …

OnePlus officially shows off the OnePlus 5, dual camera confirmed

June 7, 2017

While the OnePlus 5 won’t be properly announced before June 20, we already know various things about it. As of today, we can also take a look at an official render of the handset – albeit one that only shows half of its rear side.

Revealed by OnePlus itself, the render – seen above – tells us that the OnePlus 5 features “dual cameras” for “clearer photos.” This dual camera seemingly looks a lot like the rear camera of Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus, though it’s probably best for us to leave this comparison for when we’ll have a OnePlus 5 in our hands.

With the …
