Samsung Galaxy S8 Active clears Wi-Fi certification on its way to AT&T

May 14, 2017

The rugged version of Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to arrive at AT&T any moment now. We’ve been hearing about the smartphone for two months now, so there’s no doubt the Galaxy S8 Active will make its debut in the United States very soon.

The smartphone has been spotted on User Agent String last week, and now it’s been listed at Wi-Fi Alliance with the same model number: Samsung SM-G892A. The smartphone has received its Wi-Fi certification, which means it’s one step closer to market release.

Aside from the model number, no other information about the …

Siri calls 911, helps save man injured by exploding cottage

May 14, 2017
A man caught in an explosion couldn’t dial 911 for emergency assistance. But Siri could.

Something goes wrong. You’re in a crash. You’re in an fire. The world turns to chaos around you. You can’t reach your phone. You can’t call for emergency services. But Siri can. And it did just that for Christopher Beaucher when he went to check on his mother’s cottage only for it to explode around him.

Man injured in Wilmot house explosion credits Siri with saving his life— WMUR TV (@WMUR9) May 15, 2017

Somehow he managed to get himself out to his Land Rover and grabbed his cellphone, but he said he couldn’t use his fingers to dial 911 due to his burns.

Instead, he asked Siri to do it for him.

“I had the presence of mind to use Siri to at least call 911,” Beaucher said.

He said the voice command app likely saved his life.

“I was going into shock, too, so having Siri to dial 911 for me was critical,” he said.

What we’re not surprised about is the upcoming launch of a version of the Samsung Galaxy S8 that ties into the theatrical release of the film. A special case engraved with the movie’s logo, and containing a skull, is added to the back of the handset.

Features related to the movie are added to the UI once the special case is attached to the phone. This is done using the special NFC chip embedded in the case. The Pirates of the Caribbean special …

May 14, 2017
How do you can listen to Apple Music on multiple devices at once? Easily, but you’ll need a family plan!

Update May, 2017: Added new screenshots and text for iOS 10.

It’s been almost two years since the launch of Apple Music, and not a lot has changed in regards to listening to music from the service on two devices at the same time. In order to do so, you will need a family plan, which will let you listen simultaneously on up to six devices. While that might be inconvenient, the good news is that it’s pretty easy to set up.

Here’s how you can play Apple Music on multiple devices at once using a family plan.

How to set up an Apple Music family plan

It’s pretty easy to set up an Apple Music family plan. Start by heading to the Music app.

Open Music.
Tap For You.
Tap your avatar.

Tap View Apple ID.
Scroll down and tap Subscriptions
Tap Apple Music Membership.

Tap Family.
Tap Confirm to switch your Apple Music account over to a family plan.

And there you go. Of course, if you…

Best way to expand storage on your older MacBook Pro

May 14, 2017
What’s the best way to increase storage on your 2015 or earlier MacBook Pro? No, not an external drive — a microSD card!

No matter how much storage you have on your older MacBook, as you collect more pictures, documents, games, and other files, you will probably find yourself craving more space. Sure, you could get an external hard drive or go as far as replacing the internal hard drive with something bigger, but that’s not the easiest solution. What if I told you, you could expand your older MacBook Pro’s memory with a microSD card?

The BASEQI microSD adapter is designed to slip into the SD card slot of your MacBook Pro allowing you to use it as extra storage space of up to 256 GB.

Unlike a normal SD card or microSD card adapter, the BASEQI will sit flush with the edge of your MacBook Pro, meaning you don’t have to worry about losing it. Just plug it in and forget about it.
